Designing for public sector organizations and nonprofits carries a unique and meaningful responsibility — creating communications that serve communities, build public trust, and deliver essential information to diverse audiences with clarity and purpose. With extensive experience working with government agencies and mission-driven organizations, I bring a deep understanding of the unique creative challenges these clients face — balancing brand standards and compliance requirements with the need to produce materials that are visually engaging, accessible, and effective. From government agency communications and public awareness campaigns to nonprofit publications and community materials, this work reflects a long-term commitment to serving organizations whose missions extend beyond the bottom line — delivering design that informs, engages, and builds trust with the people it reaches.
As a long-term freelance design partner for Tarrant County 9-1-1 District in Texas, I developed and produced a wide range of public-sector communications over multiple years. This ongoing relationship included annual report design, brochures, flyers, billboards, invitations, postcards, and public awareness materials — all created to serve a government agency with both community-facing and operational communication needs. Working within the constraints of public agency branding while keeping materials visually engaging gave me a deep appreciation for the balance between compliance, clarity, and design impact.
As a long-term freelance design partner for the YMCA of Greater Kansas City, I created a comprehensive range of community-facing communications across approximately 21 branch locations over multiple years. Deliverables included program booklets, annual reports, postcards, lobby posters, and promotional materials — all designed to serve diverse audiences across a large, multi-site nonprofit organization. This relationship expanded to include YMCA branches in Arlington, TX, Plano, TX, Denver, CO, and Nashville, TN, reflecting the trust built through consistent, high-quality creative work. Managing design needs across multiple locations and markets required strong attention to brand consistency, audience awareness, and the ability to adapt messaging for different communities while maintaining a unified organizational identity.
